High-pressure die casting

From design to mould trials

Available stages depend on the company and the project.

  1. Feasibility analysis

    Component feasibility analysis, metallization and deformation risks, and foundry-process optimization.

  2. CAD/CAM design

    2D/3D CAD/CAM/CAE design for cold-chamber aluminium and brass and hot-chamber zamak, with integrated 3D CAD/CAM.

  3. Casting simulation

    Casting simulation, including work with qualified collaborators. Study scope is agreed for the project.

  4. Mould machining

    Milling, drilling and boring for mould manufacture. Heat treatment through specialist suppliers, according to requirements.

  5. Inspection and sampling

    CMM dimensional reports, on-machine measurement and preventive sampling. Trial scope and deliverables are agreed per project.

Low-pressure die casting

From design to mould trials

Available stages depend on the company and the project.

  1. From drawing to CAD/CAM design

    Tooling development from 2D drawings, 3D models or physical samples within the network’s low-pressure mould offering.

  2. Casting study

    Casting studies and simulation. Application to a low-pressure mould and study scope are defined per project.

  3. Mould manufacture

    Manufacture with CNC milling, turning and EDM capabilities selected for mould geometry and requirements.

  4. Foundry sampling support

    Foundry sampling and subsequent support. Low-pressure support is agreed within the supply scope.

Gravity casting

From design to mould trials

Available stages depend on the company and the project.

  1. Technical analysis and co-design

    Technical feasibility analysis and co-design of the component, permanent mould or core box.

  2. Tooling CAD/CAM design

    Tooling CAD/CAM design and 2D/3D design of aluminium gravity-casting moulds.

  3. Casting simulation

    Casting simulation for gravity permanent moulds alongside tooling design and sampling preparation.

  4. Manufacture and assembly

    Manufacture of permanent moulds and core boxes for brass and aluminium, including mould assembly and testing.

  5. Dimensional inspection

    Quality control and CMM dimensional reports. Dimensions, tolerances and documentation are agreed for the supply.

  6. Sampling and foundry support

    Foundry sampling and subsequent support, with prototyping available when the project requires it.

Plastic injection moulding

From design to mould trials

Available stages depend on the company and the project.

  1. Co-design and analysis

    Product and moulding-requirement analysis, with co-design and 3D development within the requested scope.

  2. Mould engineering

    CAD/CAM/CAE engineering and design, with documented Moldflow analysis capability. Application is defined for the material and project.

  3. Manufacture and assembly

    Mould manufacture and assembly, with additional milling services for plastics tooling.

  4. Dimensional inspection

    Dimensional inspection and CMM reports. Documented PPAP and Cp/Cpk capability; the documentation package is agreed per supply.

  5. Trials, sampling and maintenance

    Trials, sampling, pre-series and mould repair. Maintenance is planned around project needs.

Compression

From design to mould trials

Available stages depend on the company and the project.

  1. Analysis and design

    Development of compression moulds for SMC, LFT and GMT, plus BMC injection-compression tooling, with tooling analysis and design.

  2. Manufacture and assembly

    Manufacture and assembly using documented multi-axis milling and EDM capabilities according to mould design.

  3. Dimensional verification

    Mould dimensional inspection and checking fixtures. Reports and acceptance criteria are agreed for each project.

  4. Compression trials

    Compression trials with documented capability up to 1,000 t, according to the supplied technical presentation. Trials are defined per mould.

  5. Sampling and maintenance

    Sampling, pre-series, trials and mould maintenance: capabilities selected according to project scope.

Thermoplastic injection moulding (single, 2K and 3K), compression and injection-compression for BMC.

Class A finish, gas assistance and cutting tooling for composites.
